In the Torah, Avraham became famous for his generosity of welcoming strangers into his tent. He would provide food, drink, and a place to rest to travelers. Since he was unlikely to ever see these strangers again, Avraham clearly did not seek repayment nor recognition; he acted because it was the right thing to do. Like Avraham, we open our "tent" to everyone. If you or someone you know would benefit from having a regular visitor to your home, please apply to become a client today. We all go through rough journeys in our lives. Allow us to be the "Avraham" in your life and offer you some help along the way.
Follow Tobias's vision of connecting with others.
Tobias greeted strangers with a warm "Hey Friend!" and sparked lively conversations with questions like "What book are you reading?" His playful energy—singing, joking, storytelling, and offering advice—ensured no moment was dull. At Tobias's Tent, we honor his legacy by making weekly visits that bring joy to our community. Blind Men and the Elephant: We Are Better, Together
Many of us know the Indian folk tale of six blind men encountering an elephant, where each man touches a different part of the animal. For example, one man feels the trunk and believes the elephant is a snake, whereas another feels a leg and thinks it’s a sturdy pillar. Because each man only experiences one part of the elephant, they come to conflicting conclusions. At Tobias's Tent, we recognize that we all grow when we come together and share our stories. A blind man himself, Tobias deeply valued human expression and bonding. Please don't be shy: we need your help in making all of our lives more complete.
